Choose a YouTube channel name
A channel name must work both in a thumbnail and spoken aloud. Start with your subject, audience, and personality. “Funny gaming channel” and “engineering lessons for beginners” should lead to different shortlists.
Channel name and handle are different
A display name and an @handle are not the same namespace. A public API lookup can find a channel for a handle; failure to find one does not prove YouTube will let you claim it.
Make it easy to repeat
Read “Welcome back to [name]” aloud. Ask a listener to type it. Test whether the name still fits if you change the game, expand the topic, or invite a cohost.
Keep the brief when you refine
If the first ideas feel generic, ask for a clearer tone or a different construction. Shorter is not always better: familiar words can be easier to recall than an obscure five-letter string.
